Duplex Apartment VR Interior ArchViz

Scope

  • First attempt at visualizing an interior in real-time VR
  • Used Unreal Engine to simulate a duplex apartment space
  • Utilized pre-made 3D models and textures for speed and learning
  • Created an immersive VR-ready scene for headset walkthrough

Goals

  • Test VR capabilities for interior architecture using Unreal Engine
  • Gain practical experience with lighting, performance optimization, and VR deployment
  • Evaluate the workflow for importing assets and building environments in UE for real-time use
  • Develop a proof-of-concept for future VR interior presentations

Approach

  • VR Concept Exploration: Focused on learning key VR fundamentals — camera control, movement logic, and real-time rendering settings.
  • Asset-Based Modeling: As a rapid prototyping project, the apartment’s furnishings and finishes were built from a curated library of pre-made models.
  • Lighting & Scene Composition: Balanced natural and artificial lighting to give the duplex a photorealistic yet performant look inside VR.
  • UE5 Integration & Testing: Scene assembled and tested directly in Unreal Engine using a headset environment to review comfort, navigation, and performance.

Delivery

  • Full VR-ready scene package in Unreal Engine 5
  • Functional prototype for headset-based apartment walkthrough
  • Lighting and composition reference for future interior projects

Project Feedback

This was my first hands-on experience applying VR technology to interior architecture. It allowed me to experiment, fail fast, and iterate quickly. The results shaped the foundation for more advanced VR ArchViz workflows in future projects.
